I am an artist based in East Lothian, Scotland, currently pursuing a second undergraduate degree in Contemporary Art Practice at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee. I previously completed a Joint Honours degree in Mediaeval History and Film Studies at the University of St Andrews.
In my work I combine my own personal history with the wider human experience. Human nature and people will always be themes that are central to my practice, and I have always been fascinated with the idea that every single person in the world is living a life that is just as complex as mine. I love bright, vivid colours, especially the way that light and shadow interact. I mostly achieve this through oil paint, but I occasionally use various other mediums. My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places and people. I love the challenge of painting a variety of subjects (landscapes, skyscapes, still life, etc.), whatever inspires me at that moment, but I always seem to come back to people and the ways in which we interact with the world.
